The Lyle Lanier Lecture Returns Featuring Prof. Dan Simons

Date
08/22/23

Established in 1986, this lectureship is in honor of Lyle Lanier, who served as Head of Psychology, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Provost at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

This year, the Lecture will take place at the Campus Instructional Facility on September 22nd at 4 pm.

Dr. Daniel Simons, co-author of his new book, "Nobody's Fool" will be our featured speaker.

From phishing scams to Ponzi schemes, fraudulent science to fake art, chess cheaters to crypto hucksters, and marketers to magicians, our world brims with deception. In this talk, Prof. Simons will explain why we are so easily deceived and what we can do about it.

There will be a Q&A session and book signing immediately following the talk.

Books will be available for purchase on-site, thanks to the Illini Union Bookstore.

This event is FREE and open to the public.
