Dr. Albarracin from the University of Illinois Psychology department has spent most of her career studying how public health messaging can impact people's behavior. Her work has focused on identifying aspects of social media messaging that influence behavior around unhealthy habits and prevention and treatment for communicable diseases.

In an exclusive interview, Dr. Albarracin discusses the critical aspects of media messaging that related to an increased belief in conspiracy theories and false health information. She also talks about what sorts of accurate health information are likely to be shared and effectively changes behaviors during disease outbreaks including new research around the current COVID-19 pandemic.
